An infant and an octogenarian died in separate drowning incidents in Berbice on Friday.
One-year-old Clifford Campbell of Rotterdam, East Bank Berbice, was found floating in the Berbice River around 6.30 pm on Friday.
Reports say that his mother Drupatie Dianid had left him at home with his six siblings while she went on an errand, and when she returned he could not be found. A search of the area around the sawmill compound where the family lives, located him in the river.

He was rushed to the New Amsterdam hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
