In an effort to spread Christmas cheers and as part of its community outreach programme under its Power to Make a Difference in Communities programme, Republic Bank New Amsterdam Branch recently donated a full entertainment set to the All Saints Presbyterian Development Centre.
The development centre has a daycare, pre-school and other facilities. The donation included a television, a DVD Player and a quantity of educational videos and toys.
The donation will go to benefit the children and parents using the services of the centre.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Imran Saccoor, the Officer- in-Charge of the Bank, expressed delight to be associated with the development of youths and families in the community.
He hailed the work being done and the progress made by the Centre since its formation a few years ago.
He said that education is pivotal to any country’s development and sees the donation as timely and necessary since the children will be able to use the items to enhance their learning capacity.
Co-coordinator of the Centre, Marian Tinnie, thanked the bank for its generous support and indicated that the Centre is very happy for the donation. She said that they will ensure that it is used for the purposes intended.
More than 35 children use the services of the centre which caters for babies three months old to nursery school age.
Mrs Tinnie stated, “It is a really cheerful and joyous moment for the kids since they will now be able to enjoy television programmes and kid movies.”
She also called on other entities to follow the footsteps of the bank and support the Centre, as they all work towards making lives better for our children and the community.
