To promote the history of the township, COFONA was instrumental, with the cooperation of the Mayor and Town Council of New Amsterdam, to name ‘Lot 39 Stanleytown’ ‘Lot 39 Stanleytown Randolph Bennett Avenue’, in honor of Mr. Randolph Bennett a national icon in the field of music. The street naming ceremony in honor of this New Amsterdam hero occurred during the 2011 town week celebrations. Scores of residents, dignitaries and visitors witnessed the special event at which the entire Bennett family made the special trip home to experience.
