The ‘Bring It’ World Cup campaign rolled into and out of Berbice on Saturday with the ICC 20/20 Promotion “Bring it Big Bus Tour” entering New Amsterdam.
This was the third stop of four planned by the organisers, the bus having stopped already at the Stabroek market square and the Seawalls both in Georgetown previously. They were expected to make a stop at Parika in Essequibo yesterday.
The well decorated ‘big bus’ as it is called, arrived in New Amsterdam around 09:30 hrs quite unannounced and in a jiffy was thronged by scores of inquisitive and enthusiastic residents, who wanted to know what was happening.
When they got a feel of what was taking place they quickly got involved in the activities, despite intermittent rainfall.
Residents were entertained by popular comedians Berbician Linden “Jumbie” Jones and Kirk ‘Chow Pow’ Jordan.
During the promotion lucky resident received Tickets, T-Shirts, Horns, Flyers and Bumper stickers among other giveaways.
According to Imran Khan the ‘bring it’ bus tour manager, the promotion is being held in several countries in the Caribbean. He said the activity is being held to raise awareness of the ICC 20/20 cricket competition and build the hype in Guyana, who is one of the host venues.
