Food for the Poor Guyana Inc. is celebrating its 20 anniversary as a non government organization and Social Service provider in Guyana in collaboration with its local Berbice partner, the St. Francis Community Developers which is celebrating its 25th Year as a leading non government organization and social service organization recently unveiled a 15 million assistance package which will see improvements done to a number of public facilities in Berbice. 
Among the facilities and buildings that benefited were the Eversham Community Developers Play School and Life  Skills Training Centre, The Kildonan Turn Your life Around skills Training Centre, Mibicuri Community Developers Play school and Skills Training Centre, St. Francis Community Developers head quarters and counseling centre had rehabilitation works done on its headquarters, the Albion Chapel Development Centre at Fyrish  Play School and  Skills Training Centre.

The Corentyne Community Based Rehabilitation Centre  had an upgrade on the floor of the building and the All Saints Development Centre New Amsterdam- upgrade to its play school and  skills training centre. The project entailed tiling of the floor of the eight public facilities that are collaborating partners of the St Francis Community Developers. 
The Felix Austin B division Police Training College at Adventure, Corentyne was the largest beneficiary which saw the completion of a Benab which is being utilized by the scouts had its entire floor tiled, a lunch room, washrooms and two classrooms are all in the process of being tiled.
Upgrading of Child Friendly Spaces and Writing Desk and Chair support  were extended to a number of agencies, including all the above and the Rose Hall Town Police Outpost, Fire Station and Public Library, the Child Protection Offices at Whim and New Amsterdam, Shining Star and All Saints Development Centers.
The Amerindian Students’ Hostel at Corriverton was another significant benefactor. The entire floor of the washroom and the newly constructed kitchen are being tiled. 15 brand new beds and mattresses, two TV sets, bedside cupboards, wardrobe, dressers, couches, and other household items are also part of the package. Other places that receive assistance were the Dharm Shala at Fort Canje, the Amerindian Hostel in New Amsterdam and the Good Samaritan Home in Stanleytown. They also received items listed above.
The All Saints Presbyterian Developmental Centers in New Amsterdam received six training computers which will be use to teach Information and Communication Technology to residents in New Amsterdam and surrounding areas.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony which was done at the St Francis Community Development Annex at Rose Hall Town recently, President of the St. Francis Community Developers and representative of the Food for the Poor organization in Berbice Alex Foster stated that Food for the Poor  will be venturing into a few new areas including tilapia farming. Foster also disclosed that as part of St. Francis’ 25th anniversary celebrations, a multi- million- dollar tilapia and agriculture farm funded by the Australian government will be unveiled shortly along with a pre- and play school at its headquarters. The organization will shortly be moving to implement a project designed by UNICEF in all schools in both Regions Five and six to help eradicate child abuse.
A musical marching Band which is already in place will commence training shortly.
