THANK YOU! To all who stopped by COFONA’s booth at the West Indian American Day Carnival parade on Eastern Parkway on Labor Day.
Indeed, those who came appreciated the information on 2013 that was available. Mugs, t-shirts, bags and other memorabilia depicting the commemorative events planned for 2013 in Guyana were on display. Not only did the visitors appreciate the information shared and the craft made available, but also, the opportunity to begin planning for next year’s trip to Guyana and to New Amsterdam more specifically.
With Guyana flags waving atop the tent, it was a beacon for Guyanese from all walks of life to visit, to learn about COFONA, and to become involved. The booth was prominently tucked around the southern corner of the parkway and only a few blocks from the corner of New York Avenue. It beckoned to Guyanese, but also garnered interest of people from other cultures who were excited to hear about our ancient town. Several individuals not only made purchases, but also took the opportunity to sign-up for information about the organization.
