Berbice High School (BHS) old students rolled back the years when the defeated their counterparts of the Berbice Educational Institute (BEI) 1-0 in their 2nd annual goodwill football match played recently at the All Saints Scott Church ground. Former national Player Phillip Carrington was the man on target for the winning BHS old students’ team when he netted from a free kick.
The game was keenly contested as the old stagers and some not so old showed glimpses of the past in front of an appreciative crowd.
At the presentation ceremony which was done immediately after the game the winning BHS team were presented with a trophy.
Trophies and prizes were also presented to the top individual performers with the lions share going to the past BHS Students: Best Goal keeper Rodwell Liddle BHS, Best Defender Horace Adams BHS, Best Midfielder Sherwin Forde BEI, Best Striker Phillip Carrington BHS, Oldest Player Kenrick Bowry (over 50) BEI. There was a special prize for the play of the day and that was won by Horace Roach of BEI.
Akeem Trellis of BHS was adjudged the most valuable player (MVP) on show.
The match was coordinated by former national player Neil ‘Grizzly’ Humphrey and former Berbice player Nigel ‘Buss it’ Felix. The referee was Randy Sears. (Samuel Whyte)
